Rupam Dutta
We search the silences for forgotten words
Stumbling over our fragile dreams
He built his bridges from the memories
Hoping she would cross
As the cold whispers destination
Wearing the distance in scabs and antonyms
The dreary colors
The glorious greys
And the elegant madness of want
The cold comes suddenly
It always does
She follows the wind
And he follows her
Our world cuts and bends at every vertex
A paper playground resisting the fold
The words remain
- petty souvenirs from games long lost
We still play but no longer keep score
Still pretending that we know what is missing
