Rupam Dutta
Hello October!
I have my pumpkins and fairy lights
Trying to reason with the darkness
Amber, gold and brown
And blue ghosts of smoke
A season of not one colour - all of them.
And the brighter it gets, the more I see -
the black below
Hello October!
I have my autumn evenings and breezy mornings
But the lamp stays on -
long after I have left
And the alarm clock keep screeching -
long after I forgot what mornings look like
Speckles of light in the bellowing darkness
Matches burnt down to the end
Wilting sermons on the vanity of touch
Hello October!
I have my bonfires and rustling leaves
But the bonfire burns all I had ever written
Leaving me with the burden of choice
- What is worth saving
Or maybe I should just let it all burn down
Hello October!
You seem to understand
But do you?
